====== Downpatching Dark Souls III ======

===== Instructions ====
Dark Souls 3 was updated in 2022 and again in early 2023, breaking mod engine and many mods.
An easy way to 100% fix this is by downpatching your DS3 EXE to an older version.

==== Method 1 ==== 
You can follow this youtube tutorial [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nR2wNy21R5E|here]], which provides a google drive link to the old exe.

==== Method 2 ==== 
Follow these directions to download the old version of DS3 directly through steam:
  - Open windows ''run'' (windows key + R).
  - Paste <code>steam://open/console</code> and click OK. This will open a new menu in steam.
  - In steam, paste <code>download_depot 374320 374321 4471176929659548333</code> into the text box at the bottom and hit the enter key.
  - Once it finishes, it will tell you where the downpatched DarkSoulsIII.exe was saved. Go there.
  - Find your DS3 installation (right click DS3 in steam library -> manage -> browse local files).
  - Copy and paste the downpatched DarkSoulsIII.exe to your DS3 installation and overwrite the original exe.

==== Uninstallation ==== 
Verify game files through steam to restore DarkSoulsIII.exe.
